Double-sided Wrapping Paper paired with Zeph
Margot is the first design birthed at FOLKUS. One look at Margot and you feel something cosmic, whimsical and oddly African/Black neo-classical. By all appearances the Margot design may look completely uniform, yet upon closer inspection you can see the imperfections. Margot is destined to be a heirloom concept design, abstractly bridging old world Africa to the new world of the Americas. This is a design easily at home in Mali and Nigeria or Panama and the Inkwell on the Vineyard.
The color combination of red, white and blue can evoke Americana and whiteness, but Margot much like the Black experience in the Americas makes the combination all her own. Margot's blueish lines possess the purple notes found in the West African indigo dyeing process and takes on a lavender tonal interpretation, juxtaposed with a red that both absorbs and emits a blue undertone. Given the neo-vibes of Margot it is paired with Zeph, a neo-stripe pattern. Not only does the color combination challenge the Americana aesthetic, the design attempts to blur the lines of being part gingham and plaid, which some would argue are the most traditional patterns of the WASP cannon. We also like to pair Margot with Monroe, George, Nana and Thank You NYC.
